“IL SANTO” aka Umberto Sangiovanni, a musician from Rome, Italy.

He is a pianist, composer, record producer and sound designer, mostly active in the Smooth Jazz and Nu Jazz music genres, but ventures also into a wide variety of other musical styles.

He is a music composer for the cinema and TV, his music is contained in many compilations dedicated to world jazz and smooth jazz.

He has participated in several international jazz festivals in Spain, Morocco, UK, Germany and, of course, Italy and is the founder and leader of one of the best known bands in Italy that mixes jazz with world music: DauniaOrchestra with whom he has recorded four CD’s.

Over many years he has had various encounters with DJ’s and artists leading to an interest in dance and electronic music, particularly the kind of lounge music that allowed for the fusing of genres that he had been playing as a musician, such as jazz and latin.

After working in lots of studio’s as a session musician with many different Italian dance music producers, Umberto decided to start producing himself. In September 2013 the German label ChinChin Records release his first CD under the name “Il Santo” . A Nu Jazz style with lounge and R&B flavour.
